Q. Why are the savings estimates for Epic not higher than $850 per year?
A. The savings that can be achieved by using the Epic Pump Series Pool Pump Energy Saver are a conservative estimate but based on the largest pool pump used in practise on domestic pools. We see no sense in over estimating power savings to try and make the numbers look better than they already are. Ultimately, the size of the pool pump, the efficiency of the pump and motor, the amount of time you decide to run your pool pump, and the (rising) cost of electricity will determine the actual reduction in running costs – we are sure that you will be very pleasantly surprised.
Q. Is there a Money Back Guarantee if I don’t get any energy savings using the Epic Pump Series Pool Pump Energy Saver?
A. You will not achieve any energy savings if you use the Epic Pump Series Pool Pump Energy Saver in the Power Save OFF Mode. However, we will back our extensive experience with motor and pump control by a 100% Money Back Guarantee if you don’t reduce the energy usage of your pool pump when operating in either LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH Energy Save Modes on the Epic Pump Series Pool Pump Energy Saver
Q. If the EPIC unit reduces the pool pumps speed (flow rate), why can’t I just run my pump for less hours per day to get the same result?
A. Reducing the pump speed (flow rate) will reduce the power consumption of the pump by a cubic function of the flow rate reduction. For example if the flow rate is reduced by 10% (to 90%) flow hen the power use of the pump is reduced to 73% (0.9 x 0.9 x 0.9), a reduction of 27%. On the other hand if you just reduced the running time by 10% with the pump still running flat out, the energy reduction will be only 10%. Try out the maths yourself for a 20% and 30% reduction in flow versus a 20% or 30% reduction in run time. Reducing the flow rate also makes sense for most pools as it is most likely your pump is oversized for the job. This means there is quite a bit of wasted energy while the pump runs normally. The EPIC unit will enable flow rate reduction to better match your pool pipework. For example, a pump rated at 300 litres per minute may be trying to force water through a pipe only capable of carrying 200 litres per minute. By reducing the speed (flow rate) of the pump, the system starts to work much more efficiently, with much less wasted effort from the pump.
Q. How is the Epic Pool Pump Energy Saver different from those all-in-one pump energy savers available from my local pool shop?
A. Both options work on the same principle of reducing energy used by reducing the pump speed and hence the flow rate – a proven principle used with pumps for many years in industrial installations, but that is where all similarities end.

Q. Does my Pool Cleaner work with Epic?
A. Most pool cleaners will operate fine with Epic Pump Series Pool Pump Energy Saver – in some cases some adjustment may be required to the valve on the skimmer box plate and/or power selection may need to be set to MEDIUM on smaller pumps to adjust the flow through the cleaner
Q. Will Epic affect filtration of my pool?
A. We have found no change to the water quality at all when running at HIGH power saving mode for extended periods. In fact our own tests show that the filter system operates more efficiently at a lower flow rate which in our test cases has resulted in lower requirements for pool chemicals – another added saving. You should always continue to have the pool water tested by your pool shop professional.
